Market Day

Early yesterday morning my aunt, sister and I got up and drove to Red Hill Market. I first discovered this market last year and it is the highlight of my month to get out of the house, walk around and look at all the crafty stalls people have.
Our first stop was breakfast. The three of us got these delicious breakfast souvlakis - lamb, egg, bacon, cheese, etc. Rather unhealthy but it's our monthly treat, so we figure that it has to be okay!

Many of the stalls at the market are very individualistic. People are creative with the things they make to sell, and the remainder of the photos are just a small example of that (as well as being some of my favourite stalls).

The artist who did the above prints is Mel Macklin. My sister and I bought a couple of her prints in September, and we already want to get more. Some of her drawings are inspired by stories such as Alice in Wonderland, Kiki's Delivery Service and other fairytales. Her art is beautiful and worth checking out.
You can find her blog here.
And her etsy here.

If you are interested in checking out any of the markets in Victoria, here is their website. The Red Hill Market is on every first saturday of the month from September to March. Definitely worth checking it out (and getting there EARLY) if you are interested in crafts, food, and other eclectic items.
